1 CEU Workshop for PA Psychologists, LPCs, LSWs, LCSWs, & LMFTs.
This workshop will identify the prevalent MH issues in Black Men, examining how they are disproportionately impacted and explore culturally responsive interventions to support them.
Learning Objectives:
LO1. Identify prevalent mental health issues in men, with a focus on Black men.
• Recognize the most common mental health challenges men face (e.g., depression, anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD, and suicide risk).
• Understand the unique sociocultural factors contributing to these disparities in Black men.
LO2. Examine how Black men are disproportionately impacted by mental health disparities.
• Explore the role of systemic racism, socioeconomic barriers, cultural stigmas, and healthcare access issues.
• Learn about the historical and present-day impacts of racial trauma, incarceration rates, and mistrust of the healthcare system.
LO3. Explore trauma-informed and culturally responsive interventions to support Black men.
• Learn best practices for creating safe, inclusive therapeutic spaces for Black men.
• Discuss specific mental health support solutions that address the unique needs of this population.
